and reviewed by Jon Paul.
Lockwood Park: The
troop still needs to replace the top of the burned picnic table. Sandy and Bill are working on it. Sandy has left four messages for Mikey
and is still waiting for him to return her calls.
Philmont:
Tents:
§
Terry called Dwight Ruston of Troop 40,
and their tents are available for our use. Eric and Terry will go look at these tents to determine sizes
and conditions.
§
MaryAnn talked with Sue Morris – she
has no tents but has other camping equipment (i.e., stove).
§
May need to borrow tents for Galena
(borrow before committing to buy).
Galena:
·
Ed is still going early and will reserve
a spot. He may pull the troop
trailer. Eric checked out the sites
and brought a map to point out a possible site. John may also go a day early with his wife.
·
Commitments need to be made next Tuesday
at Family Night.
·
Need to have as many adults as possible
for supervision – prefer one adult per group of scouts.
·
Need to monitor what shop owners are
selling to the boys (i.e. smoke bombs, knives, lighters) – was a problem last
year.
Bike Hike: Canceled
May Camp-out(s):
·
Called Triple “P” – teams do
packing, paddling, and peddling in three 4-scout teams. The canoeing team needs 2 adults, and
the other teams need only 1 adult each. This
will be presented at Family Night as planning needs to be done. The troop needs to bring their own
equipment. Canoes should be
registered with the State. There
will be (4) skill tests as part of each leg of the trip: Bear bag hang – Blind
tent pitch – Fire building – Equipment inventory (there’s a defined list)
·
Marion has Camp Lakota reserved – May
17-19, 2002

Peggy has taken care of it. Thanks,
Peggy!

people per class.

§
32 scouts, 7 adults, and 1 adult
part-timer (2 other adults considering it) are registered.

and 1 adult registered.
§

§
Will be discussed at Family Night next
week.
§
Everyone will need appropriate
physicals.
§
Isle Royale – One of the crews is
going July 13th, and the other crew is going on August 18th.
(Two
crews are going, but at different times.)
Rotary Campout:
There was a lot of coming and going at different times, and it was very
confusing and poorly planned. There
was also a problem with the gate being padlocked.
Food costs were $300, which was way too high. Need to work with scouts and their parents to watch expenses
– refer to PLC.
Troop Elections:
Historian and OA Representative positions are unfilled. The elections went well.
Manuals: Eric has already made new handbooks.
Training:
·
MaryAnn is still going to Wood Badge. The troop moved and passed paying for
her fee ($195). The current Wood
Badge course is filled, so a second course has been scheduled in the Fall;
September 13-15, and October 18-20, with a $50 deposit due with registration by
May 10.
·
“Fundamentals” is being offered,
starting April 24th. There
are at least two adults going to this.
·
Tom Siefken, District Training chairman,
is willing to do a committee training at our facility.
·
Junior Leader Training: Bob Voll will
contact boys eligible to determine interest (First Class and age 13 or above). Lucas is probably going to it, maybe
Donnie.
Medications:
Need troop policy on medications. If
scout is on maintenance medication, parents need to notify adults whether scout
will be on or off the medication. If
off medication for the campout, problem solving needs to be done in advance. Need one adult responsible for all
medications.
Duty roster for
adults: Terry and Phil will
work on it.
Fire Department
is looking for someone to serve refreshments for the extrication conference. Would need somebody from 8 a.m. to 5
p.m. both Saturday and Sunday, May 18-19, 2002.
Due to other commitments that weekend, the troop cannot commit this year,
but would like to volunteer next year.
A friend of Eric’s is looking for some boys to possibly
put up a flagpole in his front yard.
May 11th
is scheduled for Indian Lore merit badge, thanks to MaryAnn.
Calendars: A couple of scouts did not have current calendars, and came to the Fire Station tonight.
Ed will put names on top of all calendars, so we can keep
track of who gets their calendars.
Web site:
Terry will e-mail the address for the website to all scouts.
June 16th:
There is a rendezvous at Prairie du Chein.
It’s a one-day event. Eric
will mention it at Family Night to see if anyone is interested in going.
Eagle Courts of Honor:
Ronnie Kemker – April 20
Eric Paul – April 1
Adam LeFevre – June 8
Jon Decorie – June 15
The troop received a thank-you note from the Salvation Army
for food donation made at Christmas time.

Guard: Training is available – see Terry Nichols. The nine-week course is $150 at the
Millennium Center.

put it on the website.
