Swim Night: Sandy has sent the proposed dates to the school system and is waiting for confirmation. Webelos are welcomed to these nights at $2 per person.

July 4th Parade: Deb Lindstrom handed out the patches.

Summer 2003 - Philmont: Philmont stated that we still owe them $394 for the two people who canceled out late. Bill is still working on the $247 for the sick adult. Al will be ordering some maps from Philmont – anyone need anything else?

Summer 2003 – Canyon Camp (July 20-26, 2003): Ed has already sent an apology letter.

Festa Italiana: We are just waiting for payment.

Future Events

2004 District Annual Meeting: No new news on this. The banquet is the first week in April ‘04. Need to start planning in September. Bill LeFevre, Adam LeFevre, Eric Schmidt, Judi Nichols and MaryAnn Bushaw will be the sub-committee. Phil Reece will talk with Gretchen Horan to see if she will help too.

Florida Sea Base (summer 2004): No new news on this. Scuba lessons locally are about $300 per person. Dannette will explore possible discounts and other sources. Eric will call Dave Bushaw about staying up late and talking on the Internet with "Sara" to find out how many can go and the cost.

Miscellaneous Business

Super Fundraiser (5K or more into troop funds): The committee still needs to agree on doing any of them.

Troop Development Sub-Committee: Sandy talked with Deb Lindstrom about having merit classes for ½ hour prior to meetings. The idea was liked by all.

One meeting will be about repairing simple appliances. We need donations of small appliances that can be taken apart and explored. Terry White, Phil Reece, and Ed Blondin will help lead this activity.

Plumbing Merit Badge on Oct. 14: Rick Beck will lead this activity. Needs a sign-up sheet for scouts. Activity includes one scout meeting and the following Saturday. Some of the activities will involve some dangerous tools, so parents need to be aware of the risk. Any Scouts that fool around will be excused.

The Scouts want to go to a tour of the Coronado Theatre. The Coronado offers a two-hour tour, which costs $100. This is tentatively scheduled for a regular Scout meeting in May 2004. A motion to invite another group to join us and split the cost 50/50 was made & passed. Sandy will check into Troop 37.

The Webelos Overnight is on October 25 & 26, and scheduled for the Friendship House at Camp McCormick. The Webelos Open House on the September 23rd is arranged; per Sandy, Ed and Deb.

PLC wants someone to show weapons of Pilgrims and Indians and stage a demonstration. Adam LeFevre will call Midway Village to check it out. Sandy will contact Terry Serrano (Trout) for any information.

John Swartz knows someone that knows a lot about Dutch oven cooking. Sandy will arrange a date with Terry Nichols for a demonstration in a park.

The Silo Campout: It was a great time for everyone. One of the reasons was that there was plenty of time for everything and nothing was rushed or pressured. The troop would like to explore more climbing activities. The troop would like to explore the climbing center behind GARS. Al will check to see if any of the staff want to become Merit Badge counselors.

T-shirts: Special shirts were not ordered this summer.

New Business

Need interpreter: We have a new scout whose parents only speak Spanish. MaryAnn has a contact with the pack who translates and a neighbor who may be able to help.

Eagle Board of Review: Bryan Tryggestad’s confirmation was returned. Certificate is at the Fire Station. A court of honor will be planned for December. Brian Murphy’s paperwork has been sent to National.

Bike Hike: Only 2 adults are signed up at this time. More adults would be appreciated. Terry and John Schwartz are going. Phil and Eric may be able to attend. Terry will work on transportation.

Coupon Books: Some of the books are still outstanding. Jamie will collect money. Monies will go into their scout accounts except for $1 for troop.

Troop JLT: Will follow elections and will be held at the Nichols’ house on September 27. Service project will be an hour of splitting wood, which can be donated to the Continuous Fire or other events.

Xmas Wreaths: Sept. 30 – Nov. 4 wreath sales. Pick up is on Nov. 15th. Steve Fedor will help with distribution. Rose Wreath has maintained their prices. Ed will help Al this year with this. Last year we had trouble selling wreaths at the lot, so Al recommends that we order only 40 of the wreaths, 4 of the roping, and 4 of the 48" wreaths. Suggestion: buy wreaths for lot from the other distributor (Kingma) that are much fuller and more expensive. Ed suggested that Webelos 2 from his pack are allowed to sell door to door and the monies be held in Scout accounts for when they join the troop. The troop thought this was a good idea and Ed will work on that.

Chili-o-ree: October 12 at Camp Lowden (Fall camporee). Terry picked-up information on it at Roundtable. Terry will handle arrangements.

Veterans’ Day Parade: No new information.

Xmas Trees: Terry is collecting information. It is recommended to buy the same number of trees (400) this year as last year. The bailer needs to be fixed during warm weather. No new signs are needed.

Adam Walker: Lon Walker wants to be reimbursed for the purchase of camping equipment from Adam’s scout account. The committee approved this.

White water rafting: Recommended as a high adventure opportunity for First Class scouts (swimmers) not eligible to attend Sea Base. Ed will look into possibilities as an alternative for summer camp.

Museum of Science & Industry: An opportunity is available for $40 per person to stay overnight. Ed will explore this. Shed Aquarium is $50, and a crowded event (reported by Paul McCaffrey).

Troop 411: We talked about borrowing their trailer for selling elephant ears. But elephant ears are too involved for our troop at this point. They barely broke even due to a bad location after putting $600 of electrical improvements in the trailer.
